The other thing that nobody is mentioning so far is the heat levels. It may be quiet, but is it an oven on the inside? If I unplugged all the fans in my backend (4x thermaltake 80mm fans) it would be silent as well.. for about 2 hours... then it would go silent forever.. :p PVR's put off a pretty good amount of heat, as does a video card and CPU, especially playing HD content. Cooling <> Quiet in most cases. your best bet is to use BIG fans (120mm) low RPM to get the same CFM ratings with a lot less noise than 80mm or 60mm fans. I've used noise-dampening material inside a case, which helps quite a bit as well. I'm still looking for a low-loss way to get a VGA and SPDIF signal carried >50ft without significant loss, so I can put the frontend in garage.
