Hand written thank you notes are a great idea... I have been doing that for all
13 years. It has gotten even more enjoyed in the years of email... people are
happy to get something in the mail that is not a bill!!!! Builds great
loyalty...
I am a booth renter. I do about 800-1200 per week in services, so after
expenses and stuff I take home no less than 600 per week. Usually it is more. I
work about 30 hours per week.. however with sun peeping out, that has been
closer to the high end and more hours doing toes and pedi's.
Hang with it. It will come around as everyone has said...

Shannon,

You already have half the battle won, you like your boss, salon and location.
I wouldn’t suggest that you move salons but instead come up with creative ways
to continue to grow your business.

Just a few quick ideas…
1.    Always offer to PREBOOK. You can have an incentive for prebooking: 20%
off next service, Free Mani w/Pedi Purchase or even offer a series at discount
with a deadline.
2.    At the end of each week, send thank you notes to new guest and follow-up
on your own in a week. Email is nice but nothing is better than a hand written
note.
3.    Upsale and Retail is the name of the game. Use your time w/guest to
educate on services that you provide and home care maintenance. Remember
Features and Benefits of Both is key to success here.
4.    Establish a referral program that truly benefits the guest and the person
they refer. You could give a dollar amount or percentage off to the person
being referred and a Great incentive for your client for each referral or a
specific number of referrals.  She has to see some benefit for herself.

Also, I would recommend calling the client list that you feel you lost in
transition: say hello, check on them and remind them of your new location and
phone number.  There will be those that will be pleased to hear from you and
wondered where you were.

Just be Patient, Creative and Grateful…You will Succeed!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to see how everyone was doing. I know Athena is rockin, but how is
everyone else? I am a new nail tech (I have finally achieved 1 year, no more
months!!) and started a brand new organic only natural nails salon in August.
We were really busy for a month and then the economy tanked. We also had issues
with another business associated with us and they were evicted and we had to
change our phone number which I am sure has not helped. The receptionist calls
all new clients after a week to find out how their service was and everyone
raves about the pedis and manis I do. I always take the appropriate amount of
time, am on time, never rush and do a good polish job. My question is, is
everyone else super busy and should I start looking for another salon, OR is it
slower across the board and I should be thankful I have such an awesome job
with an awesome boss in a fantastic building. I am also the only nail tech so I
get all the business.
