Lynette Get some Rest!! Yes I am Yelling!!! LOL
People are more focused on themselves and for at least a small peroid of time
you need to be the same way, Wealth with out health is meaningless. I feel you
on the clients that don't care. When I livied in Michigan I went full time. I
have clients spratically throughout the week and they would never reccomend
their friends or family members. After a year I ended up taking a full time job
for "the Man" my bills where pileing up and it was something I had to do! I
flat out told my client, who was absolutly discusted that I would not be at her
beck and call that because she and so many others felt I was to good to tell
others about that I would only be doing nails on Saturday and Sunday!
Unfortunatly "Yaay" she could not come in on either of those days. I ended up
making what I was making full time on those saturdays!!!
Please don't move to fast!!

Lynnette:

You have finally arrived at what most of us struggle with...It truly is JUST
nails! I struggle with it as well. Last January, I had shoulder surgery on my
dominant hand. Yes, it was related to doing nails. Surgery Monday...in to do
a fill on a client on Thursday, because she was going on a cruise Friday and
just HAD to get them done... A CRUISE!!! Well, I was so out of it on pain
killers, unable to move my arm to hand finish file...you get the picture. She
was appreciative, but never apologized for asking me to come in. Guess what?
I got it! Not doing it again! BUT...I am currently feeling guilty for taking
Saturday of Premier off because I'm busier now than I've EVER been in 14 years
of doing nails (Thank you soak off gels and a location move) and feel obligated
to be here. Now, I am going to do Premier for the first time, and I'm coming
for the whole time, But the guilt is there.

As an aside...I'm fighting the urge to chase after a client who has broken her
standing appointment of many years because something I said offended her. A
close friend of hers told me that she feels I allowed the boundary for a
"service person" to become blurred, and that I had become too "friendly".
Really? I treat all of my clients the same. I attempt to focus conversation
on them, bend over backwards to accomodate, and apologize profusely when I
can't, taking responsibility for my schedule constraints, etc. Now, I'm too
"friendly"... I give up. There is no pleasing some people.

Continue holding your ground and get past the healing you need. Without you,
your clients will be sporting "those" horrible nails. You are valuable!

Wow.

Just wow.

As far as the SOG goes, I see that all the time here, too. Lots of places have
it, lots of techs misusing it and turning out fugly, fugly no-chip manis. It
kills me because it has become 90% of my manicure base. I love using this
stuff, it is so easy!!!

As for your clients, you have my deepest empathy. It is amazing but not
shocking, how self-centred people can be. Your health is more important than
their nails. Rest up and take care. <3

Subject: NailTech:: Time to vent

  Hola everyone!
Time for my every few month or so vent time....
Some of you may know I was in the hospital for brain surgery last week. I had
something called HFS. The surgery was MVD.
I had to, for the first time ever, close my salon for an extended period. I
worked very hard to get as many clients in as possible because some were going
to miss an appointment due to my being closed for two weeks.
I really should have more time off, but I cannot afford it. (yes, Pati, I
KNOW!! LOL) Plus I would never hear the end of it at home.
What I cannot believe are some clients. Originally I was going to do this
surgery at the end of March. The HFS got so bad, I had to change the date. I
traveled over five hours to use the best doc in the country for this. The
spasms got so bad I could hardly keep my left eye open for an extended period
of time.
When the procedure was scheduled for the end of March, I had one client tell me
she had her class reunion that week. Really now? Let me see... hmmm, your class
reunion and my health and well being. OKAY, I think I will delay my surgery so
you can have pretty nails. Oh my god! I have to overlook this, as I really like
this client and not sure if she realized what she was saying.
I really did well with my recovery and the doctor said I could go home three
days earlier than originally planned. Well, we snuck out of "Dodge" four days
early because there was snow in the forecast and we wanted to avoid that.
When I went in the salon, there were a few messages. I just cannot believe
that people are THAT self centered to have the nerve to call me to tell me that
they need to get in earlier. Geezus, it is JUST nails. I have not called back.
Do they think I am going to just magically feel so great that their nails are
top priority? WTH???
I did do a client yesterday. It was MY choice. I texted her to see if she
wanted to come in. She had an appointment at an upscale salon at the ski
resort. That is fine, as I told them to go somewhere else, as long as it was
not a chop shop. I have her in gels with Shellac (or another SOG). This time it
was Shellac on top of the gel. She texted me yesterday. They could not do her
nails. HUH? They advertise that they do Shellac. The tech told her she could
not remove the product. The tech used a cotton ball and held it on my client's
finger. No, she did not buff the top coat off first. She told my client that
she needed that "tool" to remove it. Well, I use my e-file to remove my SOG,
but I cannot imagine someone who never used an e-file doing this!!! The nails
were still shiny, so I am going to assume that they tech uses a non-acetone
remover.
I think what bothers me the most is that I am seeing more and more people
doing these SOG and hybrids and THINK they know what they are doing. They have
not even read the directions it seems! Dear god...
Anyway, I am NOT going to get those selfish clients in earlier than their
appointment. When I go back, I have a FULL load and I have no idea what mess I
am going to have to deal with. I have to do my taxes, which is the bane of my
existence!! LOL...
Hey!! Thanks for letting me vent. I learned through this ordeal that it is
JUST nails.... my well being is more important!
Buenos dias!
