Some of you may know I was in the hospital for brain surgery last week. I had something called HFS. The surgery was MVD. I had to, for the first time ever, close my salon for an extended period. I worked very hard to get as many clients in as possible because some were going to miss an appointment due to my being closed for two weeks. I really should have more time off, but I cannot afford it. (yes, Pati, I KNOW!! LOL) Plus I would never hear the end of it at home. What I cannot believe are some clients. Originally I was going to do this surgery at the end of March. The HFS got so bad, I had to change the date. I traveled over five hours to use the best doc in the country for this. The spasms got so bad I could hardly keep my left eye open for an extended period of time. When the procedure was scheduled for the end of March, I had one client tell me she had her class reunion that week. Really now? Let me see... hmmm, your class reunion and my health and well being. OKAY, I think I will delay my surgery so you can have pretty nails. Oh my god! I have to overlook this, as I really like this client and not sure if she realized what she was saying. I really did well with my recovery and the doctor said I could go home three days earlier than originally planned. Well, we snuck out of "Dodge" four days early because there was snow in the forecast and we wanted to avoid that. When I went in the salon, there were a few messages. I just cannot believe that people are THAT self centered to have the nerve to call me to tell me that they need to get in earlier. Geezus, it is JUST nails. I have not called back. Do they think I am going to just magically feel so great that their nails are top priority? WTH??? I did do a client yesterday. It was MY choice. I texted her to see if she wanted to come in. She had an appointment at an upscale salon at the ski resort. That is fine, as I told them to go somewhere else, as long as it was not a chop shop. I have her in gels with Shellac (or another SOG). This time it was Shellac on top of the gel. She texted me yesterday. They could not do her nails. HUH? They advertise that they do Shellac. The tech told her she could not remove the product. The tech used a cotton ball and held it on my client's finger. No, she did not buff the top coat off first. She told my client that she needed that "tool" to remove it. Well, I use my e-file to remove my SOG, but I cannot imagine someone who never used an e-file doing this!!! The nails were still shiny, so I am going to assume that they tech uses a non-acetone remover. I think what bothers me the most is that I am seeing more and more people doing these SOG and hybrids and THINK they know what they are doing. They have not even read the directions it seems! Dear god... Anyway, I am NOT going to get those selfish clients in earlier than their appointment. When I go back, I have a FULL load and I have no idea what mess I am going to have to deal with. I have to do my taxes, which is the bane of my existence!! LOL... Hey!! Thanks for letting me vent. I learned through this ordeal that it is JUST nails.... my well being is more important!
