unbalanced direct outs:
Even though the directs outs are unbalanced the levels are high and way
above the noise floor.... usually not a problem
Typically you encounter more problems when running a balanced output into an
unbalanced input.
My Ampex Atr102 two track mixdown deck however doesn't like it when we feed
it the unbalanced Neotek outputs.
We run the outputs through some 2-buss compressors and it all comes
together.
It's always a case by case basis depending on the individual gear involved.

Hey Jack,
I'm sure someone else has them scanned already, but if not I have a
very complete series one manual hard copy which I could scan maybe over
the weekend. I should have done this anyway long ago. There's some sort
of protocol about sharing or publishing schematics, but I think it only
applies to posting them online. Anyone?? For what it's worth, I never
balanced mine and I have yet to run into any trouble, though I'm more
musician than engineer, so I might be missing something.
Cheers,
Kai

My Series one will be here next week and I have been cramming in all the

commission it into my studio.
I have learned that the direct outs on this console are unbalanced and
Erik (The guy I bought it off of) from this list was nice enough to send
me links explaining how to balance these circuits but I wanted to see if
anyone here has ACTUALLY performed this mod. I am still on the fence as
to wether or not it is a necessary procedure so any information you can
provide would be greatly appreciated. The console will be a front end
to my Pro-tools rig and I will use it for tracking and mixing although I
have some high end pre's for the crucial tracking. (I realize of course
that they may not be as good as the NEOTEK pre's are but that still
remains to be seen.)
Also, I contacted Sytek about a manual and they want over $200 for one,
can I pay anyone here quite a bit less for a copy of theirs (a link to
one would be nice too.)
Thank you and looking forward to the work ahead,
Jack
