i guess i should also add that my friend and i are both going into a daw, logic 8. me through a motu 1224 interface and my friend through apogee rosetta 800 and ad16x. mine go xlr balanced (for now) from the board to 1/4" balanced on the motu, his go 1/4" unbalanced from the board to xlr balanced? on the apogees. apogee must accept unbalanced cuz he's using no adapters. neither of us have any issues with our setup. the motu accepts both balanced and unbalanced.
