I can't offer you any advise on how to actually get at the assignment
boards to work on them. It's completely beyond my understanding how the
board could have been designed this way!
However, what I've seen on S3 consoles with routing issues is most
usually related to dirty/bad switches. Other suggestions about the op-amps,
resistors, etc. could indeed be possible. If you can figure out how to get
the module out or at least get decent access to it, clean out the switches
as best as possible and see if that helps; if not, move onto the op-amp,
etc.. Best of luck!
