I'm afraid this is utterly useless advice. The reason that AmChat
can't be used to register a new UIN is due to changes by Mirabilis
at the servers. These were presumably made to prevent clones such as
AmChat from being used. As there was no time to fix this before NC3
went to press, the setup procedure clearly states that you must use
another client (such as ICQ on a PC) to register a new UIN if you
don't already have one.
STRICQ 0.1371 also suffers from this problem, and can't be used to
register a new UIN (although I think there are later versions which
correct this). Have you bothered giving AmChat a go?
FYI, AmChat 1.1 will be available in January 2000.
