It's more likely that this was due to the changes to the servers by
Mirabilis (who produce the official ICQ client).

I wasn't directing this at you, btw, I just wasn't convinced that Dave
had much of a basis for giving you the "advice" to switch to STRICQ.

Once you have a UIN, you can use that with any ICQ client. If you
could bring yourself to use a friend's PC to register a UIN, you only
need to remember the number and password to use that account on your
Amiga. I will need to look into the legality of allowing people to
register a new UIN with AmChat (another reason for it not making it
into 1.0), but if it's at all possible that function will be included
in v1.1.
