To provide a backup to Neil in case anyone questions his impartial
advice (no offence Neil! *grin*), Demon have slipped in recent times
and I know quite a few people who have moved away from them during the
last year or so.

The company I work for needed to get a client up-and-running on the
Internet within a short space of time, just with modem dial-up to
begin with. Out of all the ISPs evaluated, we eventually settled on
one of U-NET's packages for them and they've apparently been very
pleased with the results. You might want to take a look around a bit
more before you make the final choice.
