It could be that in your modem settings you have forced the baud rate to
115200 or something and thus the modem won't work at anything else?
(normally your modem will adjust to whichever baud you are using on your
computer's serial port).
You *might* be able to get 115200 on the internal serial port of an Amiga
with an 030, but most people can't. I sort of can with my A1200/030 but
not reliably...sending data at 115200 is fine (with a null modem linkup to
a PC) but receiving it isn't. Thus for internet use I use 57600 as do
most people in a similar position.
