Hi John,

Ups and downs, yep. Much of the downs were beyond my control (suppliers not
paying me - Villagetronic and Weird Science owe me $$$$$, and I never
received the cash, sigh). Since the end of 1999, NC3 and STFax 4 sales
simply fell over. 95% of NC3 sales were to NC2 users, upgrading, which is
why it was a 'few hundred'. Mind you, STFax 4 sales were worse :)

I did this in 1998, but wasn't successful in finding a job, for two reasons:
1) as I came from the 'Amiga market', and most companies think 'erm? oh
dear' before even interviewing you and 2) I was self-employed, with no
references, so companies interview you and think 'hmmm, he could be making
all this up and he has no way to prove it'. I decided to do NC3 and STFax 4
as I decided to continue and as I thought I could do a good job and justify
a NC3 and STFax 4 update.

The whole reason I *won't* do an NC4, is simply to do with quality. I
thought NC2 offered a lot over NC1 and I also thought NC3 offered a
reasonable amount over NC2.

Of course, no-one planned those CD problems. People blame me personally, as
if I personally decided to make sure the CD had a R/W problem!

I never came from a customer services background, BUT I'm no worse (IMHO)
that some real-life customer services people - you get people working at
Telewest and mailorder companies who are, IMHO, simply rude, on the phone.
One things for certain though, I'm never going to work within an environment
which deals with customers, via the phone, ahem. It's not me, it's not my
background.

I won't be here (here = in Edinburgh etc) as from 3 weeks, I'm going to work
for another company, as I was offered the job yesterday.

I'll still be around on the NC ML and still 'supporting' whatever I
can....and I will almost certainly be eyeing up the future Amiga market,
although right now it's difficult to understand what this future market will
be! I'm also looking at the Mac market, being a recent Mac fan, especially
Mac OS X.

I wanted to say something though - it's not a good idea to get into another
debate like this as, really, some people personally do not like me (for one
reason or another). The key thing is to support NC3 and make sure the
updates continue, for everyone. That's the main issue.

Chris.
