Just want to raise the point that just because two organizations are
working, is that enough ?

From a user's perspective who might be want to use localized FOSS
software number of things are needed :-

a. FOSS websites should be localized
b. All FOSS software should be translated.
c. Fully localized mailing lists.
d. Have policy decisions to make localization an essential part of IT
projects. (maybe part of CMP or not)

The above can be thought as a desirable wishlist.

a could be doable but of course how dynamically content is changed or
added would change the workflow.

b. FOSS software by itself is dynamic in nature, A distribution like
Ubuntu has 2000 odd packages while something like Debian like 25000
odd packages (stats from various mailing lists if needed reference
will be given. )

Now even if we take as 500~1000 packages which need to be
re-translated every 6 months to a year that's a lot of work to be
done.

c. Haven't seen a hindi mailing list as yet.

<snipped>

My contention or point being that indlinux and C-DAC even though they
might be doing fantastic jobs might not be simply enough for what
would be needed.

Would contend that localization is still a second-class citizen as far
as the desktop and interfaces are concerned.
