Having been involved in the free software and hacker culture for around 8-9 years I intititively feel that what you are saying does not make sense in the larger context of freedom that is part and parcel of this movement. Especially to talk of consequences if some one commits for something and does not ahere, this being mostly voluntarily work people can get stuck up with a 1000 personal issues and make go to outer space, who cares! nodes come in and go out and that was the fundamental idea behing FOSCOMM if am not wrong. work done needs recognition and peer appreciation that's a major aspect. Even if someone joins for just fame and name, thats his/her motivation, for us the work done should matter and not the motivations. It makes no sense to say that people might not be recognized and they must keep mum. Not picking a fight here, just felt strongly about these cultural aspects that might not be written anywhere. Maybe some ideas here and there and in "The cathedral and bazaar" maybe else where. Basically I don't agree to what you are suggesting and would not want those to be among our practices. _______________________________________________ network mailing list [email protected] http://lists.fosscom.in/listinfo.cgi/network-fosscom.in
