Hi Krishnakant

I had some questions on GNUKhata functionality which I could not figure out from the documentation publicly available. Can I request you to clarify these requirements
ITfC
is a typical NGO using Tally and would be keen to adopt GNUKhata (or any other FOSS accounting package) ourselves and then try to work with our NGO networks to spread its use.
And as a CA, am also keen that we have FOSS alternatives to Tally... am jotting down some key requirements for a FA package for a NGO

a. multiple books of accounts, one for each funder
b. chart of accounts, and organization master information about books
c. cost centres within each book
d. vouchers entry for bank, cash and journal entry
e. voucher authorisation in system
f.  voucher reversal (if authorised) and delete (if unauthorised)
g. accounting period (each voucher will be for a specific period)
h. automatic journal/bank entries for repetetive entries (depreciation, payroll etc)
i. backups and restores
j. check register and support for BRS (csv upload of bank statement with check number)
k. fixed assets register

look fwd to your response
warm regards
Guru

Talking about accounting,
and certainly role, We may think of altering and modifying GNUKhata for the task.

Indian Railway has been using  a package  Pay Roll and Accounting  on Oracle and D2k frontend.
Basically it is a Platform specific - Microsoft environment based one.
Of late, it has been decided to have a centralised version of database. However there is no mention of kind of changes in the whole environment.
Can we have our contribution to adopt open source as an alternative.
Is anyone interested?
