In the SSI MSI sector more than 90% shut in the 70s and 80s. Out of these about 45% were due to labour problems. Some examples GKW, Precision fastners, Murphy, Bush, > (what were the cause for militancy is another matter) There were also massive problems in L & T, Siemens, NRC (shut), Amar Dyechem (shut), J. K., TIFAC,. The list is really long. All of the above were amongst the highest paid workers at the time. > what percentage is caused by economic policies? > what % is caused by national/international monopolies? Meaning? I have yet to hear of a monopoly shutting during the tenure of it's monopoly. But innumerable stories playing out right now in India, now that the monopolies are over. > what % is because of board of directors/ceo/cfo/coo/managerial idiocy? > (this should be the largest) Surprisingly it is not. The banks go after them with a vengenance. Check out the bank figures. Particularly true in the SSI / MSI sector. > if i tell not more than 5% of closures are because of labour militancy how > will you object it? You have got it right by -40%. The figures will have to be culled by visiting various libraries of news papers. My statements are restricted to the state of Maharashtra. However, IMO, conditions were no different in most parts, and a lot worse in WB. -- Rgds JTD _______________________________________________ network mailing list [email protected] http://lists.fosscom.in/listinfo.cgi/network-fosscom.in
