Well .. here is where I myself am not so sure... - you could try it I guess.

Thanks for the help.  I'm still at a loss as to if that will work.  I've
looked there, and don't seem to understand what prefdm means?  Is it the
kdm login manager?  how do I change it.  just put /etc/X11/gdm instead?
