I just went to ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.1.0/binaries/ and grabbed the files for my platform as per the instructions there and then installed 4.1.0. I then ran xf86cfg which generated a perfect XF86Config file except that it only had "640x480" modes in it. I just changed the following line in the ""Display" subsections of the Screen" section from Modes "640x480" to Modes "1024x768" and it just worked (so long as I didn't try for more than 8-bit colour). In fact, I deleted all the other depth "Display" items. I hope this is helpful. _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
