OK, do you have DisplayManager.errorLogFile: /var/log/xdm-errors in your /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config? That will define where the log file goes. First make sure that file is empty so we're not confused by ancient history, then turn on xdm in /etc/ttys and kill -1 1 (SIGHUP to init). That should cause the xdm login dialog to pop up. Tell us what it looks like, and if it stays up and stable for half a minute or so try logging in. If not, post that xdm-errors file. -- Remember, more computing power was thrown away last week than existed in the world in 1982. -- http://www.tom.womack.net/computing/prices.html _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
