Yup, you're right. You did your homework, and I didn't. You didn't tell us anything about your monitor, or the resolution you're trying to use. I'm guessing that you're using 1024X768 or 1152X864, to get 16 bit color with 2M memory. But what's your dot clock? The only thing I can imagine that would give this symptom is a memory problem. If you lower the dot clock you slow the memory access and might alleviate the problem. Are the erroneous pixels steady, not flickering? Are the always in the same places? Transient memory problems usually lead to "sparklies". If your bad pixels are always in the same places it's probably dead memory bits.
