That allow me to login only with XDM, not KDM. KDM is the same as before.
The telinit 3 does nothing, that is, there is disk access, then the prompt
shows up again but no message or anything.

just to make sure that I understand what is going on here:
the file /usr/X11R6/bin/Xservers when I asked you to check it has the 
following line at the end of it:

:0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X 

Now you have edited that line to:

:0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X vt7

and this allows you to login and run all the applications that you want, 
and that was the ONLY change that you made?

Yet you can't logout now?  What happens when you do a:

[root]# telinit 3
