First of all: welcome! Wise decision ;)

Try getting sth newer like RH 7.2 (or whatever is latest), or don't do RH at all and 
get debian. Or maybe Mandrake. Personally I like Slackware, but I'm not allowed to say 
this aloud :)

What vid card exactly is it?
