Title: RE: [Newbie]Xwindows, monitor not supported?

I agree that you should get a newer distribution than 6.0. I am using red Hat 7.2 and Xconfigurator will allow you to specify the exact horizontal and vertical rates of your monitor not just pick from a list of choices. I had to do this for one of my monitors as it was not recognized by 'probe' either. You also get a newer version of XFree86, from 3.3.* to 4.1.0 which supports more video cards and newer features of the 3D capable cards.

Thanks!

The card is a SiS 6326 which is on the Xconfigurator list of supported cards.

The monitor is a DiGiview  HR-1510 that is not on the Xconfigurator list of
supported monitors.

The specs for the monitor are Horizontal = 30Khz - 69Khz, Vertical = 47 and
104 Hz and is supposed to "offer compatibility with VGA, SVGA,8514/A AND VESA.
