Then, by now, you should have tried setting the virtual resolution to the
panel dimensions or specifying the mode(s) you want in the appropriate
display subsection.  Either of these should work.  Consult the XF86Config
man page for details, particularly its description of the 'Virtual' and
'Modes' display subsection specifications.
