Nah, I think we're in agreement on a lot of areas ;). I made my post a bit more generic as well, to make the discussion not only about a page with a list of designers, but also about the more broader topic of 'where to get additional frameworks/addons/tools/designers/etc.' for nhibernate. > From reading your comments, my concerns appear to be yours as well: I > too am interested in an area of NHForge that can assist adopters of NH > in finding commercial tools to improve their "NH experience" but in > such a way that the NHForge site itself (and by extension the NH team) > isn't directly involved in endorsing, ranking, commenting, or > otherwise doing anything that would make it appear as if one vendor or > tool was better/worse than any other vendor/tool (e.g., NH is able to > maintain its neutrality). In theory, that would be ideal. In practice I think it's a bit hard to achieve, as every NH team member will have a favorite tool and likely will express that once and a while in public. Nothing wrong about that, btw, it's just a fact of life. > My suggestion was to find a way to list such products/vendors without > appearing to 'endorse' or 'rank' them in any manner. agreed. Question now is, who's voluntarily opting for the last spot in the list? ;) If the list is small, it's not a big deal. If the list contains 50 tools (so designers and other tools as well like Oren's profiler) or more, things get different. But let's not make it a matter of life and death ;). ANY list or better, a system where things are grouped and categorized is better than no list at all. :) FB
