At the rear sprocket, try to pull off a link (straight back, middle of the
sprocket) and if it comes out by half the depth of the tooth, replace chain and
sprockets. It doesn't matter how tight the chain is adjusted, at that place it
can show how worn it is.

I just got a new to me 92 NH. It is in perfect stock condition with
12k miles. The only thing I need to replace is my chain and sprocket
set. I'm looking for some insight on whether to keep it stock, gear

for speed, or gear for torque. Where I live is rural, so Highway comes
secondary to fun on the twisty/hilly country roads of western
Maryland. Please let me know your experiences/thoughts.
