Hammerl is mostly on spot. But with the more than adequate Horse Power and Torque of the 750 engine you can fool mother nature and get away with it although you'll narrow the envelop of performance in one direction or the other depending on the which way you move the gear ratio. I've done it to lower the rpm at cruising speed or to increase gas milage. It works and I satisfied. I'd just say to know what it is you want and realize the limits if you want your engine to last.
