Mortimer was kind of like a pet, he was always on or around the boat and
wasn't afraid of people. Then one day we find out that Mortimer was actually
Mortimella and she'd laid eggs on a sailbag we had left in the cockpit.
Since she was a quasi-pet we couldn't just toss her eggs out. So we left the
boat in the slip waiting for the eggs to hatch. The problem was Mortimella
liked us so much she set about trying to lay a second batch of eggs that
same year on our boat. We had to spray her with the waterhose to scare her
off after that.
