No, it's the 700 Javier and it felt very comfortable, small and
agile. I was surprised.

Graham,
good looking bike. I thought you didn't like the Magna. It is that
the big 1100cc engine?
Javier.

This is the first Magna I have owned or ridden. I bought it last
week, worked on it for two days and took it out today till my hands
froze. I was really impressed, so smooth and comfortable. I think
my back would ached on a longer ride but was good for about 15
miles. Bike Bandit shows this model with both the sight glass and
the mini dip stick (and the filler cap - a bigger opening still).
I'll post a pic of the bike I took today, Graham

Dunno for sure. I think it was some perverse Japanese designer trick
to save production money by casting a tiny hole in the crankcase,
rather than a bigger hole and a stick. You may have gotten a
transition model after previous model year customer complaints led the
factory to change it. Rather than plug up the sight glass hole, it
was easier and cheaper to keep it and just add a dipstick.
Had a Yamaha like that once. Sight glass was hidden away, of all
places, underneath the left foot rest. Hadda lay flat on your belly
and peer up under there to see it. Worse, it had a cartridge-type oil
filter, housed in the crankcase and covered up by the right exhaust
pipe. Required removing the pipe to change it.
Go figger. I got rid of the bike long before aftermarket gurus came
up with magic (and costly) fixes for both those annoyances.
