Hmm. You may be right about that. I'll have to consult my bibles about it. I just assumed that the same bolt secures the cowling and the shock. Now that I think about it, the bolt requires torquing, 22 ft/lbs, I think. That kind of pressure would crack the plastic in a heartbeat without a spacer in there to prevent it..
