Kurt, The automatic scooters I've ridden were still geared, just so slushy you could barely feel what they were doing. I haven't driven a CVT vehicle yet, though I've ridden in one. I've also heard news reports of automakers considering putting "shift points" in CVTs via software because having them hold a steady RPM were freaking out their car buyers, thus negating the whole purpose of a CVT.
Joey, I'm actually pretty good at popping the car into neutral when I need so I don't wear out the throwout bearing and can take my foot off the clutch. That said, even with my "spirited style" of driving, and all the stop and go I do, I got more than 200K out of my last clutch. It could have gone more, but I had to replace a weeping rear main seal and figured I might as well do the clutch and pressure plate while I have it off the truck. -Kyle On Wed, Aug 22, 2012 at 11:28 AM, Joey Kelley <[email protected]> wrote: > The thing that Kyle left out is that his left leg looks like that of a > professional Wrestler and that his co-workers often comment about that > cologne he's wearing - only to find out its eau du clutch :-) > -Joey > > On Wed, Aug 22, 2012 at 12:23 PM, Kyle Munz <[email protected]> wrote: > > Joey's right, my commute is absolutely hellish. 26 miles of bumper to > bumper > > interstate travel that can take me anywhere from 45mins on a good day, to > > 1.5hours on bad days.
