MJB,
A neighbor down the street has the VTX1300 (I think) and he was
telling me that somewhere in the 2000s they switched to fuel injection from
carbs. I cannot tell you how much less maintenance the fuel injection
system is than the carbs and how much I recommend them. Just a thought.
