Yes, that's what I mean, not the scooters that took over the name later. People think of them as a flash in the pan and it's kind of true, but you can also think that Honda just made them V4's and they came back as the ST1100, ST1300, and now the CTX 1300. Having the drive shaft that way, they lose less power to the back wheel, I guess. Probably other reasons for it, too. I remember a while back Graham said the Silver Wings weren't that easy to ride.
Personally, I wish the Gold Wing was still about 1000 cc, but I imagine that Americans weigh a bit more now than they did in the 70's. I know I do. I remember dumping my CB550 all the time back around 1980. Now I could wrestle it back up even if it got tipped way over. And I used to wonder who in the world would buy a 1250 Bandit. Now I've got one. Never say never. BTW, I noticed that that 650 that started this thread is already down to $2000.
