I would not say doomed. They have stopped fighting and people are still
talking, albeit sometimes angrily. This is probably a good sign.

There are quite a few other wars and civil wars going on around the globe as
we speak, and none of them have put the world in peril. Why should this
particular conflict between two very small states put the world at risk?

The only potential for starting a world-dooming war that I can see is if
Iran builds nuclear weapons and uses or threatens to use them against
Israel, provoking an Israeli counterattack, which could potentially be
nuclear.

The global financial crisis has a greater potential for far more serious
repercussions.
