How about using one leg of an ISDN line? that would be 64k -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Tony Valiantis Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 8:11 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: 56k Modem Question
As far as I know, a 56k modem, when connected to a digital device at the other end, will allow 56k download and 33k upload. This I believe is inherent in the technology used. However, v.92 may be different. So in essence, roaming client with a 56k modem dials your head office. If they connect to another 56k modem at your end, then I think they will only get a max of 33.6 connection speed. If they connect to some sort of a digital device, i.e. an EdgeBlaster or something similar as used by ISP's, then they will get 56k down and 33.6 up. Hope this helps. I think they can upload faster. Everyone involved will need the new standard though either by modem BIOS update or a new modem. All the modems I can see (including the ones we use), offer 56k download channels, but only 28.8k upload.
