Just a little thought: If you are logging on to Win2k DC with AD, then check your DNS configurations and such like. Also you might want to check whether or not he is using a roaming profile, if so, is the profile too large and hence taking a long time to download, has he got a large cache of Internet Explorer files in his IE cache folders.
Windows 2000 does cache profiles locally to speed things up. However, this can be disabled so it doesn't cache it locally. You may wish to check this as well. Good luck.
