I'm not sure how well VLC timeshifts but on that mention, thought I'd throw
out that there is a VLC Remote program on the App Store that controls it
over WiFi, two actually, one of which is a freebie.

Wow this went off topic.  Let's try to answer the actual question. 

If it's on CNN, (I assume it will be), there is a link online that allows
you to stream it via VLC.  VLC has many powerful server functions that allow
you to rebroadcast the steam, and set up a internal streaming server.
Haven't done it, but read that it's possible.

Actually, when I was in school, it was significant and they did it for
republican and democratic presidents as the peaceful transition of power
without bloodshed is a hallmark and strength of the US democratic process
and a wonderful introduction to the potential civic
responsibilities one may grow up to assume.   Maybe your school was
different.
