As a company? HP is much bigger than Dell :) (but, has a lot more divisions than Dell). HP has ~300,000 employees - Dell about ~100,000. HP's revenue last year was $126bn (profit $11.5bn). Dell's revenue was $67bn, and profit of $3.4bn (according to Wikipedia)
For server shipments, HP is about 2x as big as Dell: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/05/25/idc_q1_2011_server_numbers/ Plus HP has far more high-end products than Dell (SAN, networking - even servers - Itanium, HP-UX etc) In the mid-market, Dell and HP are comparable. We are an HP shop and currently buy through Quest. That said, we talk to our HP TAM and Quest Sales person to coordinate our lease refreshes. Any moderate sized purchase should be planned out like this. We are part way through refreshing 24 enclosures for this year and having coordinated like this, little supply issues can be dealt with and the venders can plan to have things available. Quest also knows if we get really irritated we'll switch to CDW or something. I am sure both Dell and HP would be more then happy to bring in the power point presentations to show how their integrated solutions of hardware and monitoring are awesomeness :) Steven Peck http://www.blkmtn.org ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
