While the lid is off the pot I would like to add some flavour. The most
recent Spokesperson containes articles from both people seeking the club
President job. I read both several times. In particular one point in the
statement by Manny bothered me and I ask if this is really a problem as
stated. The comment involved putting the "group" back into "group rides" .
As many of you are aware for the last 3 years I have been the biggest back
of the pack sitter in the club. I find that the groups I ride with (get
towed by) have been very forgiving. Occasionally someone chooses the wrong
group and may get left behind but not until they have stated that it is by
thier own will. Other times like last weekend when several spotif riders
join a group of lesser ability the group may break up. End of season small
group stuff and I will get over being in the back half. Maybe.

If you choose your group based on "the speed that you can ride", and not on
"the speed you think you can ride" there should be no problem. I have not
been droped from a group in 3 years but have been towed often. On 2
occasions this season I brought my 4 year old daughter along in a Trek
Trailer (Navan- Cumberland & Navan return). Since my speed was going to be
slow I chose a group several below what I would normally ride with. I was
not left by either group the overall experince was very good. ie. I did not
have to pull and other riders took the outside lane.

>From my point of view "group" already exists in "group rides". Tom has done
a wonderful job (I will not cros the road more than 5 times). The rides are
enjoyable if you do not bite off more than you can chew.

Am I wrong?
