If you are using the name of your machine in the OBS_HOST define, try
using localhost.

Many thank for bearing with me! The defines in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/Obs/Defs.pm look all right to me, including OBS_HOST    => "localhost";.

On the MySQL list I see a lot of people are having trouble with Perl DBI/DBD; and the going theory seems to be that Perl, MySQL, DBD::mysql, and DBI- or a subset thereof- need to be compiled with precisely the same compiler and compiler version- no one appears to have a strong conviction about this, however...

I guess you're a Perlhead; does this sound plausible to you? (Compilation issues are frankly over my head, at this point in my computing career; but, from a CPAN, RPM software consumer cultural perspective, so to speak, I'm hearing the theme of a long forgotten film, the all to humorous Brazil!)

(As far as my specific situation, I received this (Redhat 6.1 system) with Perl installed, then updated via CPAN, after my first Obs. install problems. I installed MySQL as RPMs, as is recommended by the MySQL folks for Linux systems. DBI and DBD::mysql I first installed from your pre-fab, then from CPAN, then, on your recommendation in this thread, compiled DBI and DBD::mysql myself- also Data::ShowTable, as recommended in Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2215 README.

Much appreciate your opinion on this, and/or any other ideas on how to get Obsequiem running over here.
