heh, I'll leave that in =)
Well, here's what I have installed:
libmysqlclient6-dev 3.22.30-2
libdbd-mysql-perl 1.2202-4
libmysqlclient6 3.22.30-2
mysql-client 3.22.32-3
That's all I need. You can download these .debs from www.debian.org.
Don't have dpkg? No problem ... type "ar -x file.deb data.tar.gz" to
get the data (binaries, headers, whatever) and "ar -x file.deb
control.tar.gz" to get the control scripts (installation, removal,
etc). Then just 'tar xvf data.tar.gz' and it'll go into /usr/bin,
/usr/include, etc.
Have a look at the control scripts if you want, but they shouldn't have
anything interesting in them. The only thing that you may have to do is
check the path in libdbd-mysql-perl and make sure it's going to get
installed wherever redhat puts it's perl stuff. Symlinks should fix any
discrepency...
Not sure if that's easier than recompiling everything from scratch, but
I tried installing the perl stuff from CPAN and got completely lost. I
think I did get it running, but installing that package was just *so*
much easier.
