Um,
I really enjoy the banter here, but I don't think the City of Cape
Town will get the messages posted on this group. I think an holistic
view is needed, because the restaurants and pubs who have extended
hours will bleat that they are being unfairly discriminated against
and the residents who are being disturbed by rowdy drunks don't want
the revelry to continue past 04H00, so I guess what is needed is a
balance here.
In my opinion, pubs and restaurants should stop selling liquor at
02H00 during the week and at midnite on Sundays.
Bottlestores should be shut on Sundays and supermarkets should stop
selling wine at 13H00 on Sundays.
Perhaps these are the comments the City would like to hear.
It's only a suggestion, but I think Obs should develop it's own policy
and code of conduct regarding the sale of alcohol and submit that to
the City as a comment. I agree that stopping the sale of alcohol at
9pm is ridiculous, but hey, talk about it and come up with some
suggestions. I personally think that the holders of liquor licences
and residents need to have a meeting and draw up a policy.
My Zim$ 1000 000's worth
Brian.
