Been driving me scatty too. I made a half-hearted attempt to seek it out late at night, but it's very difficult to tell what direction it's coming from. I go along with the machinery/saw/sander hypothesis. If I lived any closer to it I think I might have killed someone by now. Could there be some set-building going on in one of the buildings along Lower Main, or at the film school?
