Thanks for this Pam - we heard it again in Roman Road on Wednesday night. Glad I wasn't just hearing things..! definitely sounds like a humming of something electric to me, and yes with varied pitch and intensity. I don't think it is aeroplanes as it lasts too long? To me sounds similar to a microwave, loud aircon/fans/ventilation system, server room...
