Hi Marc & Paul, Just to clarify ONW's position on the carrying of fire arms on patrol for everyone's benefit:
- *The issue has been discussed at length our last two monthly meetings. * - *It was decided that our membership should vote as to whether members should be allowed to carry firearms on patrol or not. * - *The matter was concluded at our last meeting on 17 June 2015 where 65% of the vote was against the carrying of firearms on patrols.* - *We suggest that ONW members who want to patrol with a licensed firearm can do so in their private capacity (as is their constitutional right) or, that they undergo Peace Officer training and patrol in that capacity.* - *As with other officers of the law, armed Peace Officers are welcome to join ONW patrols, provided that they are clearly identified as such.* Thanks and regards, Steve On Fri, Jun 26, 2015 at 10:22 AM, Marc Turok <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi there Paul, > Yes there are many of us who get out, notice things, walk the dog etcetera. > > The challenge is to get much improved participation on a conscious level, > where we get to be effective in how we take things on and report and follow > up to check the results. > It needs to be co-ordinated so we fill the gaps and record the patterns > out in the street, get goon at listing numbers, greeting neighbours, > building community spirit, getting others to use the time walking the dog, > taking kids to school or returning home from work or the shops, to take an > extra loop to check activities around in the streets around your block. > Lets log in to area rep when we do it and that all seems fine or report > concerns.
