When a list starts getting too big maybe it is time to look at a newsgroup
instead. You can pick and choose the messages you want to read. Postings can
be robo-moderated to approved subscribers only, much as happens now. Others
can also read but not post, if it is a public group. You might even look at
making newsgroups in the nz.* news hierarchy and retaining the e-mail option
for those that want it. This option appeals to me in the sense that it will
increase the awareness of the lists and the BDA amongst the wider connected
community. The news servers of course are provided by ISPs and the mail
server or listserver runs as it does now. I subscribe to an overseas
newsgroup that is also a mailing list and it works very well. I read it when
I get time and when I don't have time to read it then I don't have the
messages clogging up my inbox.
If anyone agrees **** PLEASE DO NOT VOTE HERE ****
But if this idea is worth pursuing then I know a few people who can help put
together the proposal for nz.* and do the voting for newsgroup creation.
