Re Alistairs suggestion for another category for
the list I cast my vote as YES. I do most of my programming in a non or limited
database environment as does Al - so I can see his point.
Just a comment with regard to those who think
that Delphi is primarily a database oriented thing - the language
underlying Delphi is in fact the latest iteration of Borland/Turbo Pascal - a
language that a few of us have known and loved for some 15 or so years ...
I have used this language for machine control, telemetry, energy management, CAD
and other industrially related purposes many times and have found it highly
satisfactory. The Delphi RAD IDE and VCL are all implemented in this language -
which gives some indication of how flexible and powerful it has
become.
