Alternatively, why don't you run a news server on the DUG list
server ?  Is it online all the time, or does it only pick-up and
send mail at regular intervals ?

With a DUG news server, you could create all the "custom" news
groups you want without having to get it approved by nz.*

Personally, I like the news group idea - I don't often have
time to read all the article every day, and so it builds up.  
I'm currently going through about 100 articles, just from the
last week.

Just my 2 cents - or Finnish pennies ;-)
