Out of curiosity Nic, what is your linux setup at the mo?  I know
you're running Mandrake, but I was wondering if you're using 
KDE/Gnome/Enlightenment or whatever, niceties aside, I find 
enlightenment to be rather processor intensive and prefer WM's like 
Sawmill or Black Box which are very lightweight (on memory and processor).
