Ah but your argument falls over because the person in your argument is not a
born and breed local of Paris, and if they were, they would say "Paree"
which is of course the correct pronunciation.

Subject: [DUG-OFFTOPIC]: RE: How do you spell Delphi?

Are they maori names? Because if they are, then surely the locals when
they were named were maori? So surely the maori pronunciation is
correct? And the current locals simply can't even pronounce the name of
their own town right :-)

That's like going to live in Paris then saying that seeing as you are
now a local, and you say it Paris then that is correct pronunciation,
never mind that the French say it Paree. (Or differently from me
anyway).

So unless they are not maori names, then the maori pronunciation is
correct, and good on the TV presenters for trying.
